  Description
  Hedin IT is a subsidiary of Hedin Mobility Group one of Europe's largest automotive… groups with over 12,500 employees in 14 countries. The BI team is responsible for developing and managing a modern, cloud-based platform for Business Intelligence on Azure. Within the platform, business data from the group's various companies and business areas is ingested, transformed and visualized. The goal is to provide management and the business areas with insights and decision support as a foundation for more data-driven decision-making across the group.
  Role
  As a Data Engineer in the BI team at Hedin IT, Fredrik develops scalable data pipelines in Databricks on Azure for ingesting, processing and validating the group's business data. The work spans the full flow: ingestion from multiple enterprise source systems via API, orchestration in Azure Data Factory, transformation in Databricks with Python and SQL, and storage in Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2. A strong focus is placed on analyzing the business system's raw data and transforming it into a unified data model that creates structure and clarity, and that serves reporting and analytics across the group. Access control and metadata are managed through Unity Catalog and secrets through Azure Key Vault, and the team works with version control in Git and CI/CD through GitHub Actions. Fredrik works in a cross-functional team of eight, applying Scrum, in close dialogue with the business areas that consume the data.
  Benefit
  Fredrik has contributed to a more stable and reliable platform by implementing a memory-optimized function for ingesting raw data via API from multiple source systems. The new version reduced the number of interrupted runs, and at the same time allowed the compute cluster's capacity to be lowered — reducing the running cost of the Databricks environment. The unified data model gives the business areas a consistent and transparent foundation for reporting and analysis, rather than data scattered across the group's individual business systems.

  MQ Marqet is one of Sweden's largest brand chains in fashion. To streamline operations,… Kubix PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) was implemented, which required large volumes of business data to be integrated between the existing ERP system and the new PLM platform. The integration was business-critical: the organization's transition to the new PLM system depended on it.
  ROLE
  Fredrik was independently responsible for developing the integration between Kubix PLM and the existing ERP system. To get started quickly he familiarized himself with the existing domain model and functionality while simultaneously learning the new PLM system's API and interfaces — mapping data structures between two enterprise systems that were never designed to talk to each other. The solution was built in C# and .NET Core with ASP.NET Web API, data access against MS SQL Server through Dapper, and message-based, asynchronous integration through Azure Service Bus, Azure Functions and Azure Storage Accounts. Fredrik also set up CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps for the integration, with version control in Git.
  BENEFIT
  Fredrik's work resulted in a maintainable and well-documented integration solution between Kubix PLM and the existing ERP system. Through clear communication with users and project managers he ensured that the solution met the organization's needs and expectations. Part of the challenge was the tight timeline set by the business, which needed to transition to the new PLM system — thanks to a structured approach and the ability to prioritize, Fredrik delivered within the given timeframe. The result gave MQ Marqet a consistent flow of data between the two systems and a solution the organization could continue to maintain after handover.

To support its operations, a large number of systems are managed and developed through a broad technical stack that includes tools and platforms for handling data, processes, and integrations. The focus is on ensuring stable operations, effectively supporting the needs of the organization, and enabling future digital development.

  ROLE
  Fredrik held the technical leadership for a system development team of six developers in the administration's IT department. He owned technical decisions, system design and data modelling, and the team's working methods, tools and processes and supported both the team and the business in making those choices stick. He mentored the developers in the team, and a large part of the role was reviewing technical solutions and implementations to make sure they were of high quality, scalable and maintainable, and that they followed the administration's strategies, guidelines and long-term goals. Fredrik worked closely with stakeholders across the organisation to build an efficient and sustainable IT environment, and took the lead in introducing CI/CD through Azure DevOps pipelines as well as Kanban as the team's working method, documenting both so they could be applied consistently across the department.

  BENEFITS
  Fredrik's efforts contributed to strengthening the IT department's ability to deliver robust and efficient IT solutions that support the organization's goals. Through his technical leadership, Fredrik also helped promote collaboration, standardization, and long-term sustainable solutions, which provided a stable foundation for future digital development. A central part of the task was introducing a process methodology, where Kanban was chosen. The Kanban method was adapted to the specific needs of the administration, and documentation was produced to ensure uniformity and transparency. Fredrik played a key role in the introduction and contributed to a shared understanding and effective application of Kanban. Fredrik also took leadership in the introduction and implementation of CI/CD via Azure DevOps pipelines. This improved the development team's delivery capacity, resulting in faster development cycles, increased quality, and reduced time to production deployment.

This includes monitoring developments and reporting on the achievement of the city's environmental goals concerning traffic and travel. The unit's work involves providing the basis for publishing the Traffic Volume Catalog, an annual compilation of traffic volumes within the city.

  ROLE
  Fredrik's role was to independently design the architecture and implementation of a new data warehouse solution for collecting, processing and quality-assuring data for traffic and mobility needs in Gothenburg. The role included building maintainable data pipelines in Databricks and ensuring that they followed established architectural principles. Setting up infrastructure in Azure for strong scalability, introducing CI/CD pipelines for efficient release management, and clear documentation of the solution were significant parts of the assignment. A strong focus was placed on ensuring high data quality by introducing tools such as Great Expectations and implementing a machine-learning-based data validation algorithm. Monitoring and alerts were used to make data quality visible, and thereby ensure high data integrity and reliability. Dialogue with and training of users took place continuously, and test automation was used throughout to ensure high quality.

  BENEFIT
  Fredrik's work resulted in a modern and scalable data warehouse solution that significantly improved the Analysis Unit's capacity to collect, process, and quality-assure data related to traffic and travel needs. The transition to a future-proof and maintainable solution that can grow with the unit's needs and handle increasing data volumes has provided substantial benefits. The continuous dialogue with and training of users strengthened analysts' ability to work independently with data, further increasing organizational efficiency. The new solution enabled faster and more reliable analyses, which directly contributed to better foundations for the city's Traffic Volume Catalog and monitoring of environmental goals.

  As part of the construction of the new bridge Hisingsbron, the Traffic Office within the… City of Gothenburg was responsible for the implementation of dynamic traffic information signs at the entrances to the bridge. As part of this, a cloud-based system was developed to display current information on the signs based on sensor data from the Hisingsbron infrastructure.

  ROLE
  Fredrik participated in the development of a cloud-based system for controlling the dynamic traffic information signs connected to Hisingsbron. A central part was the introduction of infrastructure-as-code (IaC) to facilitate the setup of the environment. Another important task was designing and implementing a module for controlling the signs via the RSMP communication protocol. The system consists of several distributed services in Azure and on-premise, and is based on .NET Core.

  BENEFIT
  Fredrik's efforts resulted in a stable and efficient system that enabled improved traffic management and real-time information sharing. By combining modern cloud technologies and the Swedish Transport Administration's RSMP communication protocol, the system was able to deliver high operational reliability.
